Therapeutic approach: I listen to where you are and work toward cultivating awareness so you have greater perspective, greater emotional capacity, and choice about the life you live.
I facilitate awareness through various means: body awareness, personality structure, relational insight, and teaching mindfulness practices. Without awareness we often continue to pattern in the familiar ways. Sometimes those patterns work and we are satisfied, and sometimes the patterns are unwanted or even destructive. While awareness is useful, being able to create a shift is challenging. The work we do together is intended to grow your capacity so the shift is easier and supported.
Working with clients over a period of time I am able to see the changes made and offer perspective of those shifts. When you live in your skin 24/7 it's hard to notice the changes. Having a therapist take note and hold a bigger perspective offers you the opportunity and encouragement at a change that is meaningful and sustainable.
If you are curious about Gestalt please check out the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies, where I received excellent training. www.gestaltoftherockies.com
I continue to receive training, and I also use what I've learned from life to inform my time with clients. I've lived the loss of relationships, the loss of physical homes as well as emotional ones. I've ridden through job transitions, and the most difficult loss of all--the death of my daughter. As these losses color who I am I have also felt and experienced incredible beauty, plenty, love, community, family, and friendship. The polarities are the nature of life, the nature of being human.
